D.N.A. of home staging.
Declutter, Neutralise and Accessorise
– the D.N.A. of good home staging success.
Declutter - Like any master piece, it is important to start with a clean foundation. You need to declutter, declutter and declutter to make your home as basic as possible. Remove any items that does not belong. This includes furniture that does not suit the room for whatever reasons whether too large, too bold or too old. Make positive open spaces by re-arranging some furniture. It is important to remember, how we live is totally different to what looks and feels good. So put practicality aside for the “short” time your home is going to be on the market and let’s make it feel good. Staged homes are most likely to attract larger crowds at inspections and it is awkward for buyers to have to squeeze pass strangers through narrow spaces blocked by furniture. It does not feel good, so the more open you can make it the better.
Neutralise – Red walls are ok, if you like living in a temple. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against bold colours, some people like it and if done correctly can be uplifting. However, unless it was specified by a professional Interior Designer, chances are it probably would not be too appealing for most and the majority is what we are targeting when it comes to selling your property. Painting and touching up of walls are one of the easiest and most effective things to do to instantly improve presentation. Whites, beige and taupe are safe.
Accessorise – Nothing’s like having a little bling to create visual excitement for your potential buyers. Décor are aesthetic works of art and we can be emotionally driven by them to feel pleasure. Nice furnishing is important and accessories completes the icing on the cake. You can create a “WOW” factor with accessories if there’s nothing else exciting about your property.
